Best Coffee Shops in Panama City, FL for Working, Studying, or People Watching

I'll admit it.

I'm a bit of a coffee snob.

Actually... that's probably putting it lightly.

If I'm ordering coffee, there are only a handful of places that earn my trust. Everywhere else? I'm perfectly happy sipping tea while judging everyone else's latte art from a safe distance.

Luckily, Bay County has no shortage of great coffee shops. Whether you're looking for a quiet place to knock out some work, meet a friend, survive a PCS, or simply watch the world go by, these are some of my favorite spots.

Wild Root

Downtown Panama City & Downtown Lynn Haven

If you've ever asked me where to grab coffee, you've probably already heard this answer.

Wild Root is my happy place.

My go-to order is the McGillicuddy. Fair warning... if your usual coffee order is "half-caf with extra oat milk," this thing might launch you into another dimension. It packs a punch.

The Lynn Haven location also has a cozy back patio that's perfect when Florida decides to bless us with weather that isn't trying to melt our faces off. They're also getting even better. Wild Root is expanding into the brand-new Slice House next door, where they'll have their own coffee spot inside. More seating, more coffee, and honestly... that's a win for everyone.

One thing that makes Wild Root unique is that it's more than a coffee shop. You can browse loose herbs, specialty spices, plants, local goods, and unique gifts while you wait for your drink.

It's basically impossible for me to leave without buying something I wasn't planning on.

Sola Coffee

Lynn Haven

Walking into Sola feels less like entering a coffee shop and more like visiting a friend's really stylish living room.

There are comfy couches, a large community table that's great for groups, plenty of smaller tables with outlets for remote workers, and window seating if you're in full "leave me alone, I'm being productive" mode.

I'm usually pretty boring here and order a black tea, but if you're hungry, trust me on this...

Get the Avocado 2.0.

You're welcome.

The relaxed atmosphere makes it one of my favorite places for answering emails or getting through a few hours of work without feeling rushed.

Techspresso 2.0

Panama City

I have a soft spot for Techspresso because it's veteran owned, and they do an incredible job creating a welcoming atmosphere.

If tea is your thing, the Mountain Chai is fantastic.

And whatever magical secret sauce they're putting on those breakfast croissant sandwiches... I need the recipe.

The space is designed with remote workers in mind, with reliable Wi-Fi, plenty of seating, and an easygoing environment that makes it easy to settle in for a while. It's one of those places where you can camp out for a few hours and never feel like you're overstaying your welcome.

Panama City Coffee Co.

Downtown Panama City & Panama City Beach.

If you like a strong coffee, the Cuban coffee here absolutely lives up to the hype.

I've only had it once...

Mainly because my heart asked me to calm down afterward.

They also make their own homemade Pop-Tarts. I still haven't managed to try one because they disappear faster than free donuts at the office, but everyone I know swears they're worth getting there early for.

Whether you're downtown on Harrison Avenue or hanging out at the beach location, it's an easy stop for quality coffee, friendly service, and a laid-back atmosphere.

Mason's Coffee

Panama City

If you've spent any time on TikTok, you've probably seen Mason's famous Double Cup, where two different specialty drinks are served side-by-side in one cup.

It's clever.

It's photogenic.

It's probably enough sugar and caffeine to finish an entire week's worth of work in one afternoon.

If you're more indecisive than adventurous, their coffee flights are another fun option that lets you sample several signature drinks before committing to a favorite.

Don't overlook the garage seating area either. It's a great place to spread out with a laptop, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a slower pace. The extra space gives Mason's a relaxed vibe that's a little different from your typical coffee shop.

The Press

Downtown Panama City

The Press has become one of downtown Panama City's favorite gathering spots.

It's bright, welcoming, and has a great mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Whether you're meeting a friend, catching up on work, reading a book, or just people watching with a coffee in hand, it's an easy place to lose track of time.

Their seasonal drink menu and locally roasted coffee keep people coming back, and its location puts you right in the middle of everything happening downtown.

EBF Café

Inside High Praise Church, Panama City

EBF feels like walking into your grandma's kitchen... if your grandma happened to be an incredible cook.

The homemade cakes are dangerous.

The lunch specials are comforting.

And somehow everyone leaves feeling like they've been adopted.

While it isn't your typical laptop-and-coffee-shop destination, it's a wonderful place to slow down, enjoy a homemade meal, and experience the kind of hospitality that's becoming harder to find.

The Drip

Inside Northstar Church, Panama City

Parents... this one's for you.

The Drip has plenty of tables for working or meeting up with friends, but the real MVP is the huge indoor play area.

Your kids can burn off some energy while you answer emails, catch up on work, or enjoy a cup of coffee before someone inevitably asks for another snack.

That's what I call multitasking.

So... Which One Is the Best?

Honestly, it depends on what you're looking for.

  • Best coffee: Wild Root (I'll die on this hill.)
  • Best cozy work vibe: Sola
  • Best remote work setup: Techspresso
  • Best downtown hangout: The Press
  • Best unique coffee experience: Mason's
  • Best Cuban coffee: Panama City Coffee Co.
  • Best comfort food: EBF
  • Best for parents: The Drip

One of my favorite things about Bay County is that every coffee shop has its own personality. Whether you're stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base, recently PCS'd here, or you've lived in Panama City for years, there's a spot that'll feel like your place.

New to the Area?

One of the best ways to get to know a new town is one coffee shop at a time.

As a military spouse and local Realtor®, I spend a lot of time helping families relocate to Panama City, Lynn Haven, and the surrounding Bay County communities. House hunting isn't just about finding the right floor plan. It's about discovering the places you'll actually enjoy spending time once the boxes are unpacked.

If you're planning a move, let's grab a coffee while we tour homes. I'll show you around, answer your questions, and introduce you to some of my favorite local spots along the way.

Fair warning though... if I take you to Wild Root, you're ordering the McGillicuddy at your own risk. 😄
