1. Find Your People Fast

If you’re affiliated with Tyndall, plug into the Tyndall Spouse Club. They host social events, service projects, and actual grown-up fun. It is not your grandma’s spouses club. It is connection without the awkward name tags.
I also host Tyndall Coffee Connect, which is exactly what it sounds like. Coffee. Real conversation. No rank. No pressure. Just spouses building community.
Do not sleep on FSS. The 325th Force Support Squadron is constantly rolling out base events, classes, kids activities, holiday fun, you name it. Follow their page and actually go. Even if you feel awkward the first time. Go anyway.
If you’re tied to NSA Panama City, the MWR events at the naval station are solid. Think family days, outdoor rentals, holiday events, and activities that get you off the couch.
Pro tip. Say yes the first few months. You can always edit your calendar later.
2. Use the Resources You’re Already Entitled To
Military life gives you stress. It also gives you benefits. Use them.

- Child development centers
- Spouse Employment Resources
- Transition Assistance Programs
The Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) is a huge one if you’re job hunting. Also check out Hiring Our Heroes and local Facebook spouse groups. Bay County is small enough that word of mouth still works here.
If you are entrepreneurial, this area is friendly to small business owners. Plenty of military spouses run successful side hustles here. Photography, fitness, real estate, bookkeeping, online services. Get creative.
3. Get Outside. It Fixes Almost Everything
Bay County is a nature lover’s playground.
We have easy access to natural springs, state parks, hiking trails, kayaking spots, and the Gulf. If you are feeling overwhelmed, take a drive and go outside. I mean that literally.
